Meet the Change-Makers: Welcoming IWCA Board Members

The International Women's Coffee Alliance (IWCA) is delighted to announce the addition of three remarkable women to our Board of Directors: Shelby Colley, Beth Spong, and Pacita "Chit" Juan.

Over the past months, we've been diligently working on strengthening our infrastructure to support strategic growth, and the inclusion of these inspiring leaders marks a significant milestone in our journey. Their diverse expertise and unwavering commitment to the coffee industry will undoubtedly propel us forward as we continue to champion women throughout the coffee value chain.

We are immensely grateful for the dedication and expertise that Shelby, Beth, and Chit bring to the IWCA Board of Directors. Their contributions are crucial as we continue to support and empower women across the coffee value chain. Together, we look forward to achieving new milestones and creating lasting positive impact in the coffee industry.

Shelby Colley is thrilled to join the IWCA Board of Directors. She has built a marketing career in both coffee and wine - currently serving as the Head of Marketing at Equator Coffees where she works to tell the brand's story, find new ways to deliver on their values around community and sustainability, and celebrate specialty coffee and the stories and people behind it. She has a deep passion for the mission of the IWCA, as someone who has grown and been uplifted by the guidance and mentorship of incredible women in and out of the coffee industry. She brings experience in communication, innovation, and creativity and is eager to support the organization as it grows.

Beth Spong

 

Beth Spong, CEO of Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee, a pioneering Fair Trade Organic Coffee company. She brings a wealth of knowledge from her background in entrepreneurship, mission-driven consulting, and nonprofit leadership. At Dean’s Beans, she played a crucial role in transitioning the company to a 100% employee-owned cooperative, reflecting her expertise in strategic planning and organizational development. Beth and Dean’s Beans' dedication to social, economic, and environmental justice aligns perfectly with IWCA's mission. Her insightful leadership and expertise in fundraising will be guiding forces in our ongoing efforts.

Pacita “Chit” Juan

 

Pacita "Chit" Juan has been in coffee for many years now. She is the President of the Philippine Coffee Board Inc. and and Vice President of the Asean Coffee Federation. She has written books on Coffee and is a regular opinion columnist of the Philippine Star under Food for Thought. She likes her coffee black and advocates for sustainability and biodiversity through coffee planting. Her influence and vision are pivotal as we work towards more sustainable and equitable practices within the coffee sector.
