IWCA Strengthens Global Partnerships at World of Coffee Copenhagen

During the World of Coffee (WoC) event in Copenhagen, the International Women's Coffee Alliance (IWCA) demonstrated its commitment to forging strategic partnerships with local governments through impactful engagements at the embassies of Brazil and Colombia. These engagements highlighted the alliance's dedication to advocating for the interests of coffee producers, particularly women, on a global stage.

At the Embassy of Brazil, IWCA Brazil, in collaboration with the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), presented the "Women of Coffee of Brazil" mission. This presentation addressed the challenges Brazilian coffee communities face in the European market, providing insights into market dynamics and outlining the contributions of Brazilian women in coffee.

The Embassy of Colombia hosted a comprehensive event that included a coffee tasting and a cocktail reception, marking the commencement of the WoC Copenhagen convention. This event was a collaborative effort involving The National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (FNC), IWCA, Nordic Roasting Co., and Flor a Fruto. The gathering began with welcoming remarks from the Embassy of Colombia, followed by addresses by Andrés Felipe Morales, Head of Delegation of the FNC, and Blanca Castro, Global Executive Director of the IWCA. The coffee tasting was expertly led by Colombian coffee experts Lina Granados, Founder and Executive Director of IWCA Colombia chapter and Miguel Hoyos, founder and director of the Colombian Coffee Company Flor a Fruto, showcasing premium coffees from FNC, IWCA, Nordic Roasting Co., and Flor a Fruto.

These embassy visits provided a significant opportunity for IWCA chapters from Brazil and Colombia to share their progress and efforts with diplomatic representatives in Denmark, enhancing understanding and support for their causes. The events also served as a platform for initiating dialogue and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, furthering IWCA's mission to empower women in the global coffee industry through international cooperation and advocacy.

This strategic engagement at the World of Coffee underscores IWCA's pivotal role in advancing the interests of women within the global coffee community and fostering sustainable coffee production practices worldwide.
